Alex has a degree in Drama and has spent the last decade working with school, youth and community groups in developing exciting theatre in education and drama therapy programmes.

Sessions with Mencap, Funtastic Forum and within the South Wales care system, and his work as an Autism Movement Therapist, have enabled him to develop the Total Drama Technique, a programme specifically intended to assist those suffering with dementia with their communication and interaction skills.

Prompted by his expertise in drama therapy and personal experience with a family member suffering with dementia, Alex has to date run workshops and regular Total Drama Technique sessions in over 50 different provisions across his home regions.

In 2011, a family member suffered a stroke and began exhibiting symptoms of Dementia.  The Total Drama Technique was born out of games played to assist with mental recovery whilst in hospital.

The Total Drama Technique was piloted in several Local Authority Care settings in South Wales to develop resources into a more widely accessible and deliverable programme of activities.

Due to rising demand from outside the 'home counties' of Newport and Monmouthshire, Alex stepped away from work in mainstream education to deliver Memory Club to an increasing number of care homes.

Demand for Memory Club continued to grow, with the first care provisions from Herefordshire and Worcestershire delivering Memory Club within their setting.

In 2018, the milestone of a half-century of provisions was reached with care settings from Blaenau Gwent, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire,  Monmouthshire, Newport, Powys, Torfaen and, Worcestershire all participating.

Like everything else, Memory Club was put on a very long hiatus due to the global pandemic.

Memory Club relaunched with a new energy and enthusiasm and had been re-adopted by 20 provisions.
